We woke to another sunny, cool, spectacular morning. It was time to pack up and head to our third national park, Cape Breton Highlands on the northern tip of Nova Scotia, aka, New Scotland. Today marked two weeks on the road. We've decided that in today’s warming world, leaving home to avoid the summer heat is as or more logical than leaving to avoid the winter cold. It’s been a brutal, ninety degree plus stretch back home.
We had a longer drive today, six to seven hours along the Trans Canada Highway. It was beautiful, and uneventful. Uneventful is good when towing a twenty six foot rig. We listened to a Mark Knopfler playlist, he’s one of those artists that seems to fit every mood.
We pulled into the Cheticamp campground on the eastern edge of the park. We’re spending three nights here, then two on the west side in Broad Cove. Everything we've read about this park make it sound spectacular, so we're excited to explore it.
We set Shirley up, and headed into town for dinner at Labri. It’s a joint started by two native guys who made a commitment to come back to their hometown and make an investment-just the kind of folks you like to support. It was a great beachfront setting and a pretty damn good foodie menu.
Another successful day...
