There’s nothing like the sound of the sea-the incessant, rhythmic sounds. The birds. There is no unnatural noise, just the constant beat of nature. It’s a great way to wake up.

We started the morning with the next in line in Joni’s discography-1970’s Ladies of the Canyon. Hard to go wrong with Woodstock and Big Yellow Taxi.

Another day, another hike. Drat. These gorgeous hikes are getting old...and we've become trail snobs. Today's hike wasn't on the coast so it just didn't measure up:) It did have a kick ass waterfall though, (and amazing peat bogs) check it out:

One thing I've really missed on this trip are bike trails. Last year there were so many great trails in Oregon, this year we've had few. But hey, we're marinating in pristine nature, some of the most beautiful areas we've ever been to, so I ain't complaining.

In the afternoon we did a touristy adventure, a boat ride up one of the major fjords, Western Brook Pond: https://parks.canada.ca/pn-np/nl/grosmorne/activ/experiences/western-brook It was stunning. The cliffs had a sheer vertical face extending over two thousand feet. The water depth twenty yards offshore was over three hundred feet. Very cool.

The biggest highlight of the day though was the chili dog and ketchup chip lunch we had at the stand next to the boat dock.

Back at camp, our timing was perfect for sunset on our beach.

We watched a couple episodes of Lincoln Lawyer that evening, they’re ok. But we were humbled when our neighbor knocked on the door to tell us to pipe down, it was eleven pm, quiet time. Guess we had it turned up a little loud…kind of a bookend to the way the day started. It musta been Kari’s fault...

  1. Catching up with your blog; finally, you got your chili dog!
Nice weather here but certainly nothing like being by the ocean. The photos leave one speechless when it comes to the beauty of this land.
