Today we hiked the Skyline Trail, one of the most popular hikes in the park. It’s about six miles and terminates on a spectacular ridge that overlooks classic Nova Scotia highlands that hug the coast. It’s the quintessential Nova Scotia setting.
We marveled again at how well done the Canadian national parks have been. They’re very natural, simple but very nice. Pristine. And they’re quiet. There’s just not enough population around for crowds to materialize.
We’ve really come to enjoy the pace of these long trips. Nothing is rushed. We tend to take three to four days in an area so we have plenty of time to see what we want to see. Even if we miss something we know there is so much more ahead that it’s not disappointing.
As on prior days, the only downer was news related to Don, this time his third indictment. What a sad day for the republic. I wouldn’t typically obsess so much over the latest news about Don, but this is such a momentous time it’s hard for it to not be on your mind. Much is at stake, let’s hope the judicial branch of our three co-equal branches of government continues to be the bulwark it has been over the last few years.
We had dinner again at Labri. This time we had reserved an outdoor table at sunset, and our timing proved perfect. It was a fantastic meal. Blaine was our server again, he was glad to see us:) Then again, we’re probably a pretty damn easy table for most servers to deal with… I did the lobster/crab roll with shoestring fries, Kari did an Indian dish. A perfect end to the day.
