Monday, August 14

We packed Shirley up and headed out, our destination was Lockston Path Provincial Park. The park sits on the Bona Vista peninsula, which extends off the western coast of Newfoundland. The drive was about three and a half hours, and like all our other drives in Newfoundland it was beautiful and deserted.

The park was great, we had a huge, heavily wooded site tucked into the woods. We hung with Shirley for the evening. Dinner was fresh Atlantic salmon, sweet potatoes, and fresh corn.

Two things of note happened over the course of the evening. First, in her never-ending battle against ravenous insects, Kari snatched a mosquito outta thin air. Boom, she nailed it! Second, news came late that Don had been indicted for the fourth time, this time in Georgia.  We're now up to ninety one felony charges. It's beyond comprehension. Here is one satisfying aspect of all this. I'm a big fan of irony. Doesn't it just seem fitting that the judge overseeing the biggest case, the January sixth case, is an immigrant, an African American, and a woman? That makes me smile.
