In keeping with our Joni Mitchell themed trip, we started the day with her earliest album, the 1968 release Song to a Seagull. I brought all of her main releases and we’ll revisit them over the course of the trip.

During our hike yesterday we met a couple from Ontario who are veterans of the area. They turned us on to the Fundy Trail Parkway: https://fundytrailparkway.com. It’s a seventeen mile, publicly owned stretch of coastal highway known for its scenic beauty, with lots of hiking trails and spots to stop and enjoy the views. It didn't disappoint, check out where we started the day with lunch.

Kari had done her magic whipping up a picnic, here she is cutting up that lobster we got last night.

Lobster salad and my favorite food, potato chips.

Oh yeah, she also made a tasty chick pea salad, and had an assortment of cheese & crackers. That's a pretty damn good day-fresh lobster salad, chips, gazing at the Bay of Fundy, hangin with the love of my life...

After lunch we did a hike, it was beautiful.

Here's Kari fording a rain-swollen creek.

On the way back to the park we caught a cool show on satellite radio. Two of the all time great jazz bassists, Christian McBride and Marcus Miller rappin on McBride’s weekly show. We’ve seen them both in concert, they’re both really smart, cool, compelling guys. They were discussing their favorite music from the late seventies, all stuff that I grew up listening to.

Back in town we hit the Alma Lobster Shop for dinner-a haddock burger for Kari, a lobster roll and chowder for me. Lobster twice in one day?

Another successful day…

  2. Good snap of the trail marker! I always find it interesting to see those, makes me think of the days walking through a forest with my pack on my back.
